Unstructured Podcast – Episode 061 – Jordan Harbinger from Trapping Pedophiles to Podcasting
Jordan Harbinger is somewhat of a legend in the podcasting world. He is a Wall Street lawyer who became an interview talk show host, and a communications and social dynamics expert. Jordan first worked on Wall Street in mortgage-backed securities, but was laid off around a year later due to the 2007 financial crisis.
Harbinger was also kidnapped twice, once in Mexico and then again in Serbia. We have a wide-ranging discussion in this episode of the Unstructured podcast. In it we cover everything from podcast interviewing, to guesting, to the state of the industry. We also talk about Jordan Harbinger's time as an informant for the FBI. This is one of those can't miss interviews!
Jordan's Roots of Podcasting
While he was in law school, Harbinger started coaching other people how to date and network. He and co-host AJ Harbinger started their The PickUp Podcast. Jordan later moved to New York and he then formed a company called “The Art of Charm” to turn his coaching into a business. By 2011 Harbinger would also have a radio talk show called “Game On” on both Sirius and XM Satellite that aired on Friday nights.
Then by 2015, he had begun to rebrand himself as more of a general self-help personality and he was also profiling celebrities in the podcasts. In early 2018, Jordan would split from his former partners, at The Art of Charm podcast, and he then started a new podcast under his own name The Jordan Harbinger Show.
Harbinger has hosted a top 50 iTunes podcast for over 12 years and now receives over six million downloads per month. Thus making The Jordan Harbinger Show one of the most popular podcasts in the world. The show was also awarded Apple’s “Best of 2018” and is one of the most downloaded shows of the year. On his podcast Jordan deconstructs the playbooks of the most successful people on earth, and on it he shares their strategies, perspectives, and practical insights.
