Cindy Otis wanted to become a spy the first time she watched a James Bond film. This is daring dream for most but made even more challenging by the fact that she is also a wheelchair user. She never let life dictate who she would become. Otis is a former CIA officer and is also an expert on disinformation threat analysis and counter messaging. Cindy served in the CIA as a military analyst, intelligence briefer. As well as a manager in the Directorate of Intelligence. While working at the CIA, Otis specialized in security issues in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

After the CIA she also became a Senior non-Resident Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab and an Associate at Argonne National Lab. Cindy Otis is also the author of the newly released True or False: A CIA Analyst’s Guide to Identifying and Fighting Fake News. She is a frequent media commentator, and she regularly writes on disinformation and national security issues. Cindy's written work has appeared in places like USA Today, CNN, The Daily Beast, Barron’s, Teen Vogue, Just Security, as well as the New York Times. Otis is also a member of USA Today’s Board of Contributors. As a wheelchair user, and she is a passionate advocate for disability rights, and Cindy has also worked as a consultant to major disability rights organizations.
