Episode 196 – Undercover FBI agent Bob Hamer
Bob Hamer retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation after having served over 26 years as a FBI Special Agent. During his storied career he worked cases involving organized crime, gangs, terrorism, and child exploitation. In truth a large portion of his career was spent undercover where his assignments could last anywhere from several days, to over three years. He has successfully posed as a drug dealer, a contract killer, residential burglar, fence, pedophile, degenerate gambler, international weapons dealer and even spent time as a white-collar criminal.
His undercover work intersected with criminal groups like La Cosa Nostra, the Sicilian, Mexican, and Russian mafias respectively. As well as Asian organized crime groups and Los Angeles based street gangs. Bob Hamer's successful infiltration of NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) resulted in the arrest of eight members of the organization's “inner circle”.
Throughout his career he has received numerous awards which include the coveted FBI Director's Award for Distinguished Service. Hamer also then received five United States Attorney Awards for Distinguished Service, as well as numerous letters of commendation, which also included one from former US Attorney Rudy Giuliani.
A man of many words
He is the author of three award-winning books: THE LAST UNDERCOVER: The True Story of an FBI Agent's Dangerous Dance with Evil; and two novels ENEMIES AMONG US, and TARGETS DOWN. Bob has also released three novellas: DETOUR TO JUSTICE, EXPENDABLE FOR THE CAUSE, and BLOOD IN THE DESERT. He collaborated with New York Times best-selling author Oliver North to write AMERICAN HEROES ON THE HOMEFRONT and COUNTERFEIT LIES.
Bob has also appeared as a guest on a variety of TV and radio programs which have included Oprah, Sean Hannity, The 700 Club, and Laura Ingraham. Hamer has worked as the technical advisor for Tv's, The Inside and Angela's Eyes and has also consulted for Law & Order: SVU and Sleeper Cell. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America and has also written for television.
